According to a source, Sanjay felt that Rajkumar Santoshi had a strong understanding of commercial cinema and could do justice to the sequel. The actor also reportedly believed it would be exciting to finally collaborate with Santoshi on a film. Rajkumar Santoshi is said to have politely declined the offer as he is currently busy with “Lahore 1947,” starring Sunny Deol. He also has other scripts in development for Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan. With Santoshi out of the race, the director’s chair for “Khalnayak 2” remains vacant for now.
